Send Wishlist Created Event to Mailchimp

Use this Shopify Flow template to send an event to Mailchimp after a shopper creates a new wishlist in Wysh. By default, the event is sent immediately, making it easy to trigger a welcoming automated email flow that encourages them to start adding their favorite items.

You can customize the workflow in Shopify Flow to match your specific marketing or segmenting strategy.

Before you start

  • Wysh must be installed and active on your Shopify store.

  • Shopify Flow must be available on your store so you can import and edit the workflow.

  • Mailchimp must be connected directly to your Shopify store so Shopify Flow can seamlessly pass data to your Mailchimp account.

The template sends a Mailchimp event for new wishlist creation activity. Once the event is being sent successfully, you can use it in Mailchimp to trigger automated wishlist onboarding journeys or build specialized customer segments.

Install the workflow

Download the template, extract the file, and then import it into Shopify Flow.

Download the ZIP folder using the link above, then extract (unzip) it on your computer to get the .flow file.

In your Shopify admin, open Shopify Flow.

Choose the option to import a workflow, then upload the extracted .flow file.

After import, confirm that the workflow includes the wishlist trigger and the Mailchimp event action.

Customize the workflow

After importing the template, review and update the workflow settings before turning it on.

  • Confirm the event name: The default event name is New wishlist created. Keep it as-is or rename it if you want to organize events differently in Mailchimp.

  • Review the event details: Make sure the event includes the shopper information you want available in Mailchimp for your email setups and audience tagging.

  • Adjust timing if needed: By default, this event is sent immediately. If you want to introduce a delay, you can add a wait step in Shopify Flow and set it to seconds, minutes, hours, days, or weeks.

Because Mailchimp connects directly to your store, there is no need to hunt for API keys. Just make sure the Mailchimp app is properly integrated with your Shopify admin before turning the workflow on.

Turn it on

After updating any workflow settings, save the workflow in Shopify Flow.

Turn the workflow on so it can start listening for new wishlist creation activity from Wysh.

Create a new wishlist on your storefront as a test shopper, then confirm the workflow runs as expected and the event appears in Mailchimp.

If the workflow is not turned on, no Mailchimp events will be sent and your wishlist welcome journeys will not trigger.

What this workflow does

Once enabled, the workflow watches for shoppers who create a brand new wishlist in Wysh. It immediately sends a Mailchimp event with details about the shopper and the newly created wishlist. You can then use that event in Mailchimp to power automated wishlist onboarding or engagement emails.
