Why isn't the wishlist icon showing in the header as expected?

What this guide covers

Use this guide if the Wysh wishlist icon is not appearing in your store header as expected when using automatic injection.

Wysh can automatically inject the header wishlist badge on fully supported themes. If your theme is not in the supported list below, you will need to use manual placement instead.

In Shopify theme settings, the header icon is controlled from App embeds for Wysh under Wishlist visibility. The setting called Disable header wishlist badge hides the automatically injected header badge.

First, check whether your theme is fully supported

Auto-injection of the wishlist icon into the header is fully supported on these themes:

  • Atelier

  • Be Yours

  • Broadcast

  • Colorblock

  • Craft

  • Crave

  • Concept

  • Dawn

  • Dwell

  • Enterprise

  • Eurus

  • Fabric

  • Generated Data Theme

  • Heritage

  • Horizon

  • Origin

  • Pitch

  • Prestige

  • Publisher

  • Refresh

  • Ride

  • Rise

  • Ritual

  • Savor

  • Sense

  • Skeleton

  • Spotlight

  • Studio

  • Solo

  • Sleek

  • Taste

  • Tinker

  • Trade

  • Vessel

If your theme is not in this list, header auto-injection is not fully supported. In that case, use Manual theme icon placement instead of troubleshooting auto-injection.

Checklist for fully supported themes

If your theme is in the supported list, work through these checks:

Open Wysh and make sure you completed setup on the same Shopify theme you are previewing.

If you installed Wysh on a draft theme, preview that draft theme rather than your live theme.

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store.

Open your theme editor, then open App embeds.

Find Wysh and make sure the embed is turned on. Then click Save.

In the Wysh embed settings, scroll to Wishlist visibility.

Make sure Disable header wishlist badge is turned off. If this setting is enabled, the automatically injected header badge will be hidden.

During setup using the installlation wizard, Wysh lets you choose Default settings or Custom settings.

If you chose Default settings, Wysh uses a floating wishlist badge instead of a header icon. That means you may not see a header icon at all.

If you want the wishlist entry point in the header, use the setup option that places the wishlist icon in the header.

The Wysh embed includes an Override Wizard Settings option.

If this is enabled, theme editor settings take precedence over wizard settings. If your storefront is not behaving as expected, review whether this setting matches how you want Wysh to be controlled.

If your theme is not fully supported

If your theme is outside the supported list, use the manual placement method:

Manual theme icon placement

This guide shows where to add the header placeholder in your Shopify theme so the wishlist icon can appear in the right location.

When to contact support

If your theme is on the fully supported list and you have already checked the Wysh app embed, Wishlist visibility, and the correct theme preview, please contact support so we can investigate.

For fully supported themes, the header icon should appear through auto-injection when the setup is correct.

If you need help with manual placement, contact support and we can assist.

To do that, we will need collaborator access to your store. Please include your MyShopify URL so we can send an access request for you to accept.

Quick summary

  • If your theme is in the fully supported list, the header icon should work through auto-injection.

  • If it is not showing, first check App embeds, Wishlist visibility, and whether Disable header wishlist badge is turned on.

  • If you used Default settings via the installation wizard, remember that Wysh uses a floating wishlist badge instead of a header icon.

  • If your theme is not in the supported list, use Manual theme icon placement.

  • If a fully supported theme still does not show the header icon, contact support.

  • If you want help with manual placement, contact support with your MyShopify URL so we can request collaborator access.
