Send Wishlist Item Low Stock Event to Klaviyo

Use this Shopify Flow template to automatically notify shoppers when an item on their wishlist is running low on stock. When a product's inventory decreases to a defined amount (defaulting to 2 units or fewer), the workflow automatically checks for any shoppers who have added that specific product to their Wysh wishlist, and instantly sends a Klaviyo event to each of them.

This creates a powerful, high-conversion urgency reminder that encourages shoppers to buy before their favorite items sell out.

Before you start

  • Wysh must be installed and active on your Shopify store.

  • Shopify Flow must be available on your store so you can import and edit the workflow.

  • Klaviyo must be set up, and you will need your Klaviyo Public API Key to finish the workflow configuration.

  • Inventory tracking must be enabled for your products within Shopify so Shopify Flow can accurately read stock drops.

The template connects your real-time inventory levels directly with your customer wishlists. Once the low-stock event is being sent successfully, you can use it in Klaviyo to trigger automated "Low Stock Wishlist Alert" emails.

Install the workflow

Download the template, extract the file, and then import it into Shopify Flow.

Download the ZIP folder using the link above, then extract (unzip) it on your computer to get the .flow file.

In your Shopify admin, open Shopify Flow.

Choose the option to import a workflow, then upload the extracted .flow file.

After import, confirm that the workflow includes the inventory trigger, the Wysh wishlist loop check, and the Klaviyo action step.

Customize the workflow

After importing the template, review and update the workflow settings before turning it on.

  • Add your Klaviyo Public API Key: Replace the placeholder value in the Klaviyo step with the Public API Key from your Klaviyo account.

  • Adjust the stock threshold: The workflow triggers when product inventory is less than or equal to 2 by default. You can change this number in the condition block to any low-stock threshold that matches your inventory speeds.

  • Confirm the event name: The default event name sent to Klaviyo is typically Low stock of wishlist item (or your preferred naming convention). Keep it as-is or rename it to organize events differently in Klaviyo.

  • Review customer data payload: Ensure that the event is correctly passing the shopper's contact details and the specific product variant data so Klaviyo can dynamically populate your email template.

To avoid spamming customers, ensure your email flow in Klaviyo has a smart-sending limit or a time-delay filter so a customer doesn't receive multiple low-stock alerts in a single day if multiple items drop in inventory.

Turn it on

After adjusting your stock thresholds and pasting your Klaviyo API key, save the workflow in Shopify Flow.

Turn the workflow on so it can begin monitoring inventory levels and matching low-stock items against customer wishlists.

Find a product currently saved to a test customer's wishlist, manually lower its inventory count to 2 or fewer in your Shopify admin, and confirm the workflow loops through the customers and fires the event to Klaviyo.

If the workflow is not turned on, inventory drops will pass unmonitored, and your high-intent shoppers will miss out on urgency notifications.

What this workflow does

Once enabled, the workflow watches for an inventory quantity change where stock levels drop down to your chosen minimum (default is 2). When this threshold is crossed, the flow scans active Wysh data to identify every customer who has that exact product saved to a wishlist. It then loops through those customers, sending an individual Klaviyo event for each one—giving you the precise trigger needed to power automated urgency-driven email campaigns.
