Send Wishlist Reminder Event to Mailchimp

Use this Shopify Flow template to send an event to Mailchimp after a shopper adds an item to their wishlist in Wysh. By default, the event is sent 2 days later, making it easy to build automated wishlist reminder emails that bring shoppers back to complete their purchase.

You can keep the default timing or change the wait period in Shopify Flow to match your reminder strategy.

Before you start

  • Wysh must be installed and active on your Shopify store.

  • Shopify Flow must be available on your store so you can import and edit the workflow.

  • Mailchimp must be connected directly to your Shopify store so Shopify Flow can seamlessly pass data to your Mailchimp account.

The template sends a Mailchimp event for wishlist activity after a set delay. Once the event is being sent successfully, you can use it in Mailchimp to trigger automated Customer Journey maps centered around wishlist reminders.

Install the workflow

Download the template, extract the file, and then import it into Shopify Flow.

Download the ZIP folder using the link above, then extract (unzip) it on your computer to get the .flow file.

In your Shopify admin, open Shopify Flow.

Choose the option to import a workflow, then upload the extracted .flow file.

After import, confirm that the workflow includes the wait step and the Mailchimp event action.

Customize the workflow

After importing the template, review and update the workflow settings before turning it on.

  • Confirm the event name: The default event name is Wishlist reminder. Keep it as-is or rename it if you want to organize events differently in Mailchimp.

  • Review the event details: Make sure the event includes the shopper and product information you want available in Mailchimp for your email setup.

  • Adjust the wait time if needed: The workflow waits 2 days by default before sending the Mailchimp event. You can change this timing in Shopify Flow to seconds, minutes, hours, days, or weeks.

If you want to test different reminder timings, duplicate the workflow and use different wait periods or event names for each version in your Mailchimp audience tracking.

Turn it on

After updating any workflow settings, save the workflow in Shopify Flow.

Turn the workflow on so it can start listening for new wishlist activity from Wysh.

Add an item to a wishlist in your storefront, then confirm the workflow runs as expected and the event appears in Mailchimp after the configured delay.

If the workflow is not turned on, no Mailchimp events will be sent and your automated reminder emails will not trigger.

What this workflow does

Once enabled, the workflow watches for shoppers who add products to their wishlist in Wysh. After the configured delay, it sends a Mailchimp event with details about the shopper, wishlist, and product. You can then use that event in Mailchimp to power wishlist reminder emails.
